The relevance of the topic is determined by the need to optimize the legal regulation of control and supervisory activities to improve the effectiveness of public administration inmodern Russia. The purpose of the article is to study problems and prospects of reforming control and supervisory activities, as well as to develop proposals for improving current legislation in this area. The research methodology is based on the universal dialectical method and includes such methods of cognition as analysis, synthesis, formal legal and comparative legal methods. An analysis of Russian legislation regulating control and supervisory activities was carried out in comparison with similar legislation of foreign countries, problems of legal regulation were identified and recommendations for reforming current legislation in this area were given. The discussion of the problem indicates the existence of controversial issues in the field of legal regulation of control and supervisory activities. In conclusion, the need for further improvement of legislation within the framework of global trends in the reform of control and supervisory activities is emphasized.
