Countering Digital Crime in Human Trafficking in ASEAN States: China’s Experience

Abstract

The relevance of the study lies in the fact that for the countries of Southeast Asia, the problem of human trafficking using digital crime has been observed for decades, being one of the most acute problems not only in Asia, but also in the world. Cybercrime in the field of human trafficking is determined by the complexity of tracking digital crimes, as well as the adaptation of law enforcement agencies to the complexity of cybersecurity problems. The research methods are based on the analysis of organizational and legal measures, applying international law, taken by the Chinese government to combat human trafficking and digital fraud in the southern territories bordering China. Fraud parks aimed at providing criminal syndicates with recruitment and trafficking assistance are analyzed. Legal measures to counter digital human trafficking crime are examined. In conclusion, it is noted that China cooperates with various international organizations and countries in combating cybercrime and human trafficking.
