The purpose of the article is to analyze the impact of digital transformation on the activities of public authorities to ensure national security. The methodological basis of the study is presented by general scientific methods of cognition (induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, analogy, generalization) and specific scientific methods of cognition (specific historical, statistical, structural and functional, comparative legal, formal and legal). Organizational and legal basis for the use of open data in public administration is analyzed and those areas that need improvement are identified. The National Data Management System, the unified digital platform “GosTech”, and legal regulation of anonymized data are considered. The article substantiates the assertion that the prompt use of the necessary information by public authorities will solve the problems of socio-economic development of the state, taking into account the conditions for ensuring information security. The analysis of open data contributes to the implementation of high-quality forecasting of the state of security threats. In conclusion measures were proposed that would accelerate the process of digital transformation in the field of public administration.
