Abstract
The role of religion in contemporary societies is analyzed. The article substantiates the thesis that the Russian Orthodox Church plays an important role in solving the problems facing the Russian state, but its potential has not been exhausted. Based on this, measures are proposed aimed at improving the effectiveness of interaction between state and church authorities.
