Historical and legal foundations of the Patrimonial Collegium, as one of the central institutions of the Russian Empire of the XVIII century are considered. The prerequisites and the history of creation, the organizational and legal structure of the Patrimonial Collegium, and its personnel are analyzed and considered. The results of the study are based on the study of the legislative framework and the analysis of archival documents on the history of the Patrimonial Archive.
